Shapleigh fund-raisers: Ruth’s Chris in Austin, El Pisto in El Paso

State Sen. Eliot Shapleigh is busy fund-raising, like most folks in this intense political season. Here’s the invite to his fund-raisers in Austin and El Paso, followed by a video.

  1. UH OH! Shapleigh forgot to put a political ad disclaimer in his fundraiser invite (unless NPT forgot to scan it) and his “Help Now, Take a Stand for Texas” does not have a political ad disclaimer.

He says asks for support for his “Senate office” but asks you to contribute to via campaign link. Which is it? You want support for you State Senate Office or you want support for your campaign coffer.

This needs to be addressed or there is potential ethics violation.

  2. The people have no voice. The only thing that matters in Austin is money.

  3. Ethics, good catch. There is a front page to the invite that has the Shapleigh logo and the disclaimer that it is a political ad. I’ll try to scan it in at some point later on.

  4. Still does not account for Shapleigh’s Internet video ad which lacks a disclaimer.
