Busy Grassroots season, or, on the other hand

We’ve been working arduously in collecting signatures in support of Health Care Reform throughout the summer. Numerous volunteers, medical professionals, and elected officials participated in events such as Music Under the Stars, health care forums, town hall meetings, rallies, culminating with Labor Day events. Now that Congress reconvenes, our grassroots efforts are a significant factor in bringing about reform. Throughout the country, organizations such as ours have gone out and listened to our collective plight. We’ve listened to our stories of bankruptcies, denied coverage, and enduring hardships. Having run on this issue, President Obama now faces this challenge head on with our support.

Grass Roots El Paso will be hosting the 9/12 Tea Party on September 12th at 12:30 pm, at the Arts Festival Plaza. This is an opportunity for fellow El Pasoans in support of individual liberty & limited government.

Featured speakers will include Michael Sullivan from Empower Texans; Dr. Timothy Roth, AB Templeton Professor & Chair, Department of Economics, UTEP; Retired Major General Travis Dyer; and Lou Ann Anderson from Americans for Prosperity.

Grass Roots El Paso is an organization dedicated to the promotion of public policies that enable economic and personal prosperity, through fiscal conservatism and limited government at all levels.

We have entered the three month anniversary month of the death of Heinz Duerkop.

Heinz Duerkop was killed by a hit-and-run driver on June 21, 2009 at approximately 6:50 AM. He was riding his bicycle south in the 3400 block of George Dieter Drive. He was hit from behind by a vehicle believed to be an SUV or truck. The driver has failed to come forward.
