Mayor Appointed to Homeland Security Task Force

El Paso, Texas- June 3, 2009 -Mayor Cook has been appointed to be the South West Border Task Force by Secretary Janet Napolitano. He will attend his first meeting in Albuquerque tomorrow, June 4, 2009.

The South West Border Task Force will work with our neighbors and colleagues in Mexico to further enhance the economic and physical security of our shared region. The interdisciplinary team of experts will contribute to the development of solutions to help guard our nation against terrorism; secure our borders; and enforce immigration laws and improve immigration services that further protect and strengthen our national security. Their work will empower stakeholders to improve the foundation upon which the Department of Homeland Security and the Nation will confront the challenges that lie ahead.

Mayor Cook said he was honored to be selected and will work to share the vital information that is necessary to benefit both El Paso and Ciudad Juarez.

  1. He cant run a city and now he is being asked for input to a border issue. We are in trouble. There will be many suggestions to tax-fee and for wild spending as solutions. Oh, forgot, throw in a tall building and trolley as a sign of progress.
