NPT Biz: Free drugs from the chamber?

Got you to click, right? Now read this news release (with a cute, catchy headline, but ours made you look):

Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce to distribute FREE Drug Cards

El Paso, TX – Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce is now distributing free discount prescription drug cards to the residents of El Paso and the surrounding area. The El Paso Drug Card is a free prescription assistance program that was recently launched to help uninsured and underinsured residents afford their prescription medications. The program, which is free to everyone, provides savings of up to 75% on prescription drugs (average savings are roughly 30%). Anyone interested in obtaining a free card can visit

Anyone can download a “FREE” card by visiting (click on FREE PRESCRIPTION DRUG CARD button). The El Paso Drug Card has no restrictions to membership, no income or age limitations, and El Paso residents are not required to fill out an application. The Card is accepted at over 50,000 national and regional pharmacies around the country. The El Paso Card has no restrictions or participation requirements and is open to everyone.

While the Drug Card was launched to help the uninsured and underinsured there are applications in which this program can help others. The program can also be used by people who have health insurance coverage with no prescription benefits, which is common in many health savings accounts and high deductible health plans. Additionally, people who have prescription coverage can use this program for non-formulary or non-covered drugs.

The El Paso Drug Card is a simple solution to the confusing maze of discount programs that have appeared in recent years. Many of these programs only cover certain drugs, charge fees, and include membership restrictions such as age and income limitations. The Card is also a safe option for those people concerned about their privacy. The program is administered by United Networks of America (UNA) who is the largest affinity benefits organization in the country. UNA will not share, sell, or distribute personal information for any reason. You can download a free card and search drug pricing and participating pharmacies at
