NPT City: Castro mailer: No debt, but will deliver deposit to city on Tuesday

City Rep. Melina Castro, in a mailer received by voters Saturday, claims that the opinion arguing she cannot take office if elected because of an outstanding debt is wrong, and that Mayor John Cook targeted her because of her opposition to his policies.

Melina Castro cannot take office if she wins re-election, according to an opinion from the city attorney’s office, which she sued and lost to in an action that created the debt that might deny her office.

  1. Northeast voters need to consider Rep. Castro’s record. Questions about her residence and debts to the City should be secondary concerns. What has she done for the Northeast?
