El Paso-centric info and commentary from the Center of North America

NPT Media: The EP Times apparently costs more. Sort of. Maybe.

The El Paso Times apparently has or is raising the cover price. NPT received a call from someone saying that the paper raised its price to 75 cents. But the paper sitting on our desk, today’s, was 50 cents. The caller said not all papers were properly marked, so there’s been some confusion on the rollout of the price increase. We could not confirm that (although we have a call in to the Times to get the info straight). NPT found some 75 cent papers — Monday’s and Tuesday’s — at the Downtown Walgreens on Mesa Street. And one of our friends said they saw a vending machine at Cici’s Pizza on N. Mesa with the 75 cent papers inside (although the machine said 50 cents — and it worked!). Is this new, or did we miss a previous announcement? NPT has called the El Paso Times several times but nobody’s talking yet.

  1. Someone has to pay for all those pro-cook endorsements the EP Times is making.

Notice, how they always manage to link the Mayor to a story. The subject doesnt matter. FREE PUBLICITY.

  2. Rey….

I find it ironic that YOU are making a complaint about the EP Times somehow always managing to link the mayor to a story when YOU are guilty of doing the same thing here!

Apparently you operate that same way…ignore the subject and find a way to interject the mayor into every comment.
You have made multiple OFF TOPIC comments about the mayor and council in the comments areas of stories that had nothing to do with the subject in any way.

Oh yeah, and re: that “FREE PUBLICITY”..you sure are doing your part in contributing to that FREE PUBLICITY for the mayor…lol

  3. Well at least you acknownledge the newspaper is doing it.

Just because a reporter reports a crime it does not mean he enages or approves of the crime.

  4. The El Paso Times SUNDAY paper has also been changing price, as Walgreens gets papers marked $1.50 but charges $1.75 for them. The outdoor racks still say $1.50 and Walmart charges less than $1.50. Some Sunday papers are now marked $1.75 and SOME are marked $1.50.
As the Times piss people off, I am noticing that some of the purchasers of the day leave the door on the outdoor newspaper machines OPEN or ajar so that the next “buyers” get their papers free.
