NPT Capitol: Su Casa es Mi Casa?

casa Texas Casa placed cardboard cu-outs of children on the south steps of the Capitol today in order to make a statement about the state of foster care in Texas.

“Last year, 14,295 Texas children entered the foster care system (1,191 children each month). Since these children can’t come to Austin to speak up for themselves, life-sized cut-out photos will stand for them on the Capitol grounds. Each cut-out will hold a sign displaying actual words of a foster child,” said TexasCasa’s website regarding the event.[link]

Casa made a similar statement in El Paso this morning as well. UTEP found itself strewn with 242 cutouts of children representing the 242 children that are in the foster care system with out a CASA volunteer. [link]
