The Carlos Rivera for Mayor of El Paso campaign released an infomercial featuring Rivera’s appearance on the Essential Hour, an Internet radio show on empireborderland.com,
which is owned and maintained by Empire Borderland Records.
One of the initiatives on the Rivera platform is the commitment to help young entrepreneurs in the city of El Paso by helping to expand the independent film, multimedia and music scene in El Paso.
Empire Borderland Records is an example of the potential for new media to positively expand the presence and perception of El Paso in the nation and throughout the world.
Empireborderland.com was launched on December 19, 2008, yet report receiving 150,000 unique visitors over to their site in the month of February,
a portion of which came from countries from around the world.
The 11-minute bilingual infomercial also marks the first time that an El Paso political ad has featured an electronic music track produced in the City of El Paso.
