NPT Drug War: Geraldo brings his ‘GAL’ show to EP

From the FOX News site:
• Saturday: There’s a new breed of terrorists and they’re closer than you think. Drug cartel killers and their war is quickly spilling into our communities. From inside Mexico to Texas, Arizona and California, ‘GAL’ investigates the ‘War Next Door’

• Sunday: Legalize pot? That’s right! We’re live from L.A. to discuss the latest push to legalize marijuana in hopes of driving up tax revenue

Here’s the video report from GAL (Fox’s moniker for Geraldo at Large). Geraldo was live from El Paso with U.S. Rep. Silvestre Reyes, Mayor John Cook, Sheriff Richard Wiles, and Police Chief Greg Allen.

Here’s the piece on Geraldo by the local Fox affiliate, KFOX TV.

  1. If you watched the “show”, he came to be make the story not report it. A lot of sensationalism, reminds me of the Al Capone’s safe story he did years ago. A lot of hype about opening the safe and then finding it empty. Just like this story.

  2. I watched the show. I thought it was fairly accurate. Rey thinks that Geraldo “made the story” rather than reported it. I don’t think Geraldo needed to make a story. The incredible violence in Juarez IS the story and I’m glad it is getting attention at the National level. Remember, Bush had a hard time getting the Merida initiative passed because the people inside the beltway have no clue what is going on in Juarez.

  3. Not making up the story. Made the story by the excitement he exhibited and inflections of his voice especially when he talked about senting US Forces into Mexico. He hyped the story.

Now everyone knows to enter Mexico would make Iraq look like an exercise, so the best that we can do is offer advice and equipment and that’s what the Joint Chiefs have suggested. To me, he made it sound like an invasion was imminent.

Anyway thanks Saul, just two different persepctives.
