NPT Biz: The Greater chamber is getting busy with the PSB, Higher Ed, economy

The Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce sure has been busy. In addition to being host to a new annual event, the PSB public review (click here for more), it today is organizing a higher education address by UTEP President Diana Natalicio, Texas Tech Paul L. Foster School of Medicine founding Dr. Manny de la Rosa, and El Paso Community College President Richard Rhodes.

On March 10, the Chamber is organizing a state of the economy presentation, with speakers “Alan Russell (maquila industry), Dana Vogelmeier (client services), Larry Patton (local banking), Harold Hahn (mortgage banking), Dan Olivas (residential real estate), and finally Bob Ayoub and Adam Frank sharing the podium (commercial real estate development) We will also have Bill Gilmer of the El Paso Branch of the Federal Reserve present to answer questions and provide local economic data and forecasts along side several UTEP economists.”

The Greater El Paso Chamber is hosting its second annual State of Higher Education Address tomorrow Feb. 25th at 11:30pm at the Judson F. Williams Convention Center. Dr. Natalicio from UTEP, Dr. Rhodes from EP Community College and Dr. De La Rosa from Texas Tech Paul L. Foster School of Medicine will be our guest speakers. The speakers will begin roughly at 12 Noon. Please join us to capture this great event. All of the information provided is that which impacts our community greatly. All net proceeds to benefit the new Jim R. Phillips Star Scholarship Fund. Please call me if you have any questions.

When: Noon – Interviews will be available after the conclusion of the address (roughly 1pm).

Who: All 3 Presidents from El Paso’s Institutes of Higher Education.

In preparation for the program, we are attempting to gather relevant information from the business community concerning the 2009 fiscal year. Your candid responses will enable us to narrow the focus of the program. All responses will be treated confidentially. You may respond without providing your name or the name of your business. During the two hour program, you will hear from fellow business owners in our community and have the opportunity to ask questions of them as well as business experts and economists from the College of Business.
