NPT: Moving dirt for the Children’s Hospital
From El Paso County Commissioner Veronica Escobar:
wanted to remind you that tomorrow is the groundbreaking for the Children’s Hospital on the Thomason campus at 11:00. I also wanted to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made the Children’s Hospital a reality.
It could not have happened were it not for the “keepers of the vision,” folks like Dr. Carlos Gutierrez, Sam Legate, Anne Semmer Grieshop, and others.
At Thomason, it couldn’t have been a reality without the Board of Managers who pushed the initiative. I am so grateful to them and our CEO Jim Valenti for taking the vision and making it happen. And on the campaign side, my thanks to Dennice Knight who was relentless when it came to presenting the idea to every pocket of El Paso; without her commitment, the public would not have known all the details of the plan. Thanks also to our great campaign coordinator, Audrey Marrufo, who was there every step of the way for the campaign, always with a smile and a positive message.
Thank you also to the organizations that passed resolutions in support of the effort, the thousands of volunteers who knocked on doors, phoned voters, stood at corners on election day and participated in winning the election.
And finally, thanks to the voters of El Paso who said “yes” to the greatest gift we could give our children.
Tomorrow marks the beginning of a new era for us, and El Paso deserves it!
Thank you to everyone who made tomorrow possible. It couldn’t have become a reality without you. See you there!
Veronica

AMEN!
